Overview
We are currently seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Dermatology team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to develop their management skills and enhance their expertise in the anatomy of skin, contributing to the care of patients with a wide range of skin conditions. The role will involve staff management and service development across the trust sites, with services currently across York, Malton, Selby, Scarborough, and potentially Bridlington. Travel to sites may be required.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership to the clinical team and develop new rotas/ways of working.
* Line management of junior staff across sites.
* Collaborate in the development, implementation and audit of nursing guidelines, standards, policies, protocols and care pathways within Dermatology.
* Contribute to departmental audit and emerging initiatives.
* Provide dermatological education to patients, carers and families.
* Participate in and assist in theatre for minor operations.
* Assist consultant dermatologists during out-patient clinics.
* Implement and adjust care plans with a holistic approach.
* Liaise and communicate with other members of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team.
* Be aware of and demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing practice and research.
* Contribute to meeting the learning needs of all other team members.
* Demonstrate a continuing process of attaining educational, research, clinical and leadership development.
* Act as the first point of contact for wound assessments, assess/monitor and deliver wound care advice, and initiate action as required.
* Set, monitor, and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care, including those standards defined in the National Benchmarks for Essential Care.
* Manage staffing of multiple sites and highlight additional requirements to the Dermatology Sister. Flexible working requests will be considered from the start of employment where possible.
Requirements/Qualifications
* Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse with experience in Dermatology and management.
* Willingness to travel between sites (York, Malton, Selby, Scarborough, and potentially Bridlington).
