Gallagher Specialty is hiring an Actuarial Consultant for their dynamic and growing team. The role supports broking divisions by providing analytical services for large clients, assisting in tenders and new business, and contributing to product development, including software and technology initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is skilled in actuarial analysis and consulting.
The role primarily involves supporting Risk Financing and designing insurance optimization strategies for large corporate clients. Gallagher divisions also require comprehensive statistical/actuarial analysis, including:
* Rate analysis and rate adequacy, deductible and lapse impact analysis, exposure analysis regarding accumulation and aggregation issues for underwriters.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop statistical models for claims frequency and severity to analyze insurance program structures, including self-insurance, captives, or mutuals.
* Present risk financing outcomes and technical information to diverse audiences, including risk managers, executives, and brokers.
* Perform risk tolerance analysis to help clients understand their capacity to withstand losses.
* Oversee reserving studies for clients with large self-insurance retentions.
* Price and design catastrophe-exposed property programs using RMS and AIR software.
* Provide actuarial input for captive feasibility studies and formations.
* Conduct financial and capital studies for captives.
* Manage deadlines and prioritize projects effectively.
* Mentor junior colleagues and promote a learning environment.
Characteristics and Skills
* Curiosity about insurance market trends and analytic techniques.
* Ability to handle non-repetitive work and adapt to changing stakeholders.
* Strong project management skills.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Knowledge of specialty insurance lines.
* University degree in a quantitative discipline.
* Associate or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
* Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
* Working knowledge of Python or R.
* Exposure to catastrophe modeling software (RMS, AIR) is advantageous.
