About the Role
Sexual Offences Examiner/Experienced Forensic Physician - Cumbria
Base Location: The Bridgeway, 2 Tynefield Drive, Penrith, CA11 8JA
This role predominantly covers Paediatric cases but there will be training undertaken in the adult service also for resilience purposes. Travel will be a requirement of this role especially in the first 6 months where there will be some training in the paediatric centre in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Weekend working and evenings are not usually required but may be occasionally needed for resilience purposes. Note some training may occur at weekends
Salary: £79,497-82,638 (pro rata)
Part Time role: 24 hours per week
Rota is 9.30-3.30 Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri (the days are flexible). Mixture of on call and office working.

As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in all specialities, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry and of course, Forensic Medicine
As a Forensic Medical Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning as well as receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.

Job Opportunity
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
* Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
* Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
* Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
* Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
* Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
* Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service.
* Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
* Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures
Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy
Essential Skills
Essential Skills Required:
* GMC-registered Doctor
* A minimum of 3 years + relevant post Foundation experience.
* Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
* Experience of working in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae.
* Because of the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act, Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
* A UK driving license is required for this role and access to a vehicle.
* Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required. This requires residency for 3 years in the UK
* Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement.
Desired
* Diploma in Legal Medicine
* Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine
* Precious experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments
