Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Type: Permanent
Location: Basingstoke - 5 days onsite
Salary: £65K - £70K Max plus 10% DV bonus
Security Clearance: DV Clearance
Recruiting for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer. This is a hands-on technical role that requires deep infrastructure expertise, end-to-end ownership of solutions, and the ability to work in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.
Responsibilities include:
1. Own the full life cycle of infrastructure work packages - from initial design through to prototyping, deployment, and early life support.
2. Work collaboratively within a cross-functional agile team, including security, service, and management functions.
3. Troubleshoot and problem-solve complex technical issues across multiple systems and platforms.
4. Script and automate repeatable unit tests to ensure functionality meets all requirements.
5. Develop and maintain design and support documentation.
6. Drive continuous improvement by supporting change requests and enhancements based on evolving user and business needs.
Skills and Experience include:
You are likely to have strong, hands-on experience within the following areas:
* Email & Directory Services: Exchange, Mail, MTA, SMTP, Border Sync, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS
* Web & Server Infrastructure: IIS/Apache, Server Build & Configuration, PKI (TLS, Certificates), VMWare
* Automation & Scripting: PowerShell, DevOps tooling (Ansible, GIT, YAML)
* Experience with scripting repeatable infrastructure configurations and deploying securely within enterprise environments.
* Strong documentation and communication skills to support design governance and operational transition.
