Mental Health Worker
Location: Newport, CA
Schedule: Full Time, Sunday - Thursday, 11am - 7:30pm
Compensation: $18 - $21 per hour
Newport Nursing and Rehab, a Generations Healthcare facility, is seeking a Mental Health Worker to join our STP unit. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee clients' adherence to program guidelines, provide supervision, and deliver direct care as needed.
The Mental Health Worker is responsible for communicating with clients, facilitating rehabilitation groups, and assisting in crisis intervention. Additional duties may be assigned by the program director or a designee.
Key Responsibilities:
* Escort clients to groups timely and record participation, maintaining a 1:6 ratio.
* Facilitate groups and activities as assigned.
* Lead discussions and community meetings daily.
* Record client participation on tracking calendars and ensure proper documentation in medical records.
* Encourage client attendance and participation in groups.
* Assist clients in completing forms accurately and promptly.
* Document interventions and interactions in the medical record.
* Report behavioral changes to the charge nurse and Program Counselor.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in behavioral health.
* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
* Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
* Ability to interact tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, and agencies.
* Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a willingness to handle difficult residents.
* No pose of threat to health or safety in the workplace.
