CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist – Specialist Eating Disorder Service (£45k Recruitment & Retention Package)
A senior specialist opportunity within a Sussex-wide Child & Adolescent Eating Disorder Service, supported by a £45,000 Recruitment & Retention Package and flexible job planning.
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the Sussex Family Eating Disorder Service (SFED) within Children and Young People’s Services (ChYPS). This is a substantive Sussex-wide role based at Aldrington House in Hove.
About the role
You will provide specialist psychiatric leadership for children and young people aged 10–18 with eating disorders, delivering high‑quality assessment and treatment in line with NICE‑concordant evidence‑based practice. The role combines direct clinical work with system leadership across Sussex, working closely with community CAMHS teams, multidisciplinary colleagues and fellow Consultants. You will support safe, effective and compassionate care for young people and their families, ensuring consistency of approach and strong partnership working across the pathway.
You will join a supportive MDT including nurses, systemic family therapists, child psychotherapists and medical colleagues, alongside a wider Trust consultant network offering strong peer support.
Recruitment & Retention Package
* £45,000 Recruitment & Retention Package structured over three months.

Key responsibilities
* Specialist psychiatric assessment and management of children and young people with eating disorders.
* Physical health monitoring and risk management.
* Medication management and Mental Health Act assessments where required.
* Collaborative treatment planning with families and carers.
* Clinical consultation and advice to CAMHS and partner services.
* Supervision and support of junior medical staff.
* Contribution to audit, research, teaching and service development.

About you
You will be GMC‑registered with Specialist Registration in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or within six months) and approved Clinician status or a willingness to obtain. You will bring strong clinical expertise in eating disorders, sound clinical judgement and a collaborative leadership style.
Hours and contract
Full time – 10 PAs. Permanent.
