Join the Herts Valley Integrated Diabetes Service (HIDS), an integrated service that works with partner organisations to provide seamless care for people with diabetes in South and West Herts. The role is an 18.75‑hour per week administrative support position based at Sandridge Gate. Work schedule is flexible, but we prefer coverage during some mornings.
Main duties of the job
You will undertake a wide range of tasks including full use of the SystmOne computerised patient records database for registering patients, making appointments, applying clinical rosters and dealing with tasks.
You will be the first point of contact for patients, carers, clinical staff, consultants, GPs and other health care professionals and will have contact with a range of people via telephone, email, letter, MS Teams and in person; including patients. You will liaise with the clinician of the day, escalating issues to the HIDS Senior Administrator as required. You will be required to use a variety of databases as required.
You will have personal responsibility for a number of delegated tasks outlined in a specific work plan and work flexibly as a member of the administration team to support the HIDS.

Person Specification
* Excellent communication skills both oral and written
* IT skills, use of patient record systems or similar, use of software packages
* Ability to deal with a wide variety of people on the phone from patients to consultants
* Understand the need for confidentiality
* The ability to take direction and work on your own initiative
* Previous experience of the NHS
* A basic understanding of diabetes
