Join us as a Lead Trainer for the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training programme within the People Directorate at BNSSG ICB. You’ll lead, shape and deliver high-quality training that is not only a statutory requirement but also a catalyst for change across health and social care. You’ll work alongside a talented team, many of whom have lived experience, ensuring their voices remain central to everything we do. What does it take? We’re looking for someone with accredited Oliver McGowan Lead Trainer status (Tier 1 and 2), a relevant teaching qualification, and significant experience delivering this training. You’ll need in-depth knowledge of learning disability and autism, and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Advert The Lead Trainer will oversee the planning, quality, assurance and delivery aims of an award-winning training team, the majority of whom have lived experience of a learning disability and / or are autistic. This role includes: Planning and co-delivering Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training (Tiers 1 and 2) for health and care staff. Ensuring experts with lived experience remain at the heart of everything we do. Providing quality assurance and evaluating delegate feedback. Supervising and providing pastoral support to trainers. Leading Train the Trainer programmes. Supporting the Project Manager in the ongoing development of the training programme. Detailed job description and main responsibilities General Duties Support experts with lived experience, ensuring inclusion remains central to our programme activity. Co-deliver training using varied methods (presentations, group discussions, film), ensuring learning outcomes are achieved. Stay up to date with relevant legislation and best practice (e.g., Mental Capacity Act 2005, Autism Act 2009, Human Rights Act 1998). Champion equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and ensure that activities take account of EDI requirements. The post holder will participate in the rota for provision of in-hours Call Support to System Flow meetings, once appropriate training has been received. The post-holder, once trained, will also be eligible to undertake out-of-hours Call Support which will result in additional payment. Communication The post holder will be required to maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Present information and issues, explaining highly complex issues, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Supports development of a culture that values diversity and promotes equality and inclusion. Organisation and Planning Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise. Contribute to short, medium and long term business plans, achieving quality outcomes. Manage the Team’s business support function, including developing and managing the team’s business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management. Contribute to the strategic planning of Team projects, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts on wider organisation, resource requirements and building in contingency and adjustments as necessary. Service Development and Research Develop and implement a content management system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate and the wider NHS organisation. Contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas where agreed. Contribute to the development of performance and governance strategies and the development and implementation of improvement programmes, in accordance with Clusters and Sector priorities. Develop policies and procedures in own work function with an impact on the wider organisation, as required. Finance and Resources Oversee the management of the Team budgets in conjunction with the Project Manager. Leadership and Management Lead operational coordination of the Oliver McGowan training across the Integrated Care System. Manage trainer teams, including appraisals, recruitment, and performance issues. Information Resources · Develop and implement data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data. Management Support · Take a lead in the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the Team.
