Location: Sandbanks, Dorset
Hours Per Week: Full time days and waking night shifts available
Hourly Rate: £13.00
Driver required with Full UK Drivers Licence
About the role
Lucy is a 21-year-old female with a Learning disability, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Oromotor dyspraxia, Epilepsy and a blood disorder (for which full training will be offered). She currently lives in the family home in Sandbanks, Dorset and is planning to move into her forever home next year.
Lucy loves the outdoors especially going for long walks, cycling in The New Forest and going on boat trips. She also enjoys visiting gardens and theme parks. On occasions Lucy does say she doesn’t want to participate, when really she does, and therefore she will need team members to provide gentle support and encouragement to get on board and attend.
Lucy really enjoys Swimming and is looking for Team members that are confident in the water and used to being physically active. She also loves listening to her favourite music.
Initially support will be taking her to, and spending time with her at her specialist school. Once she moves the support ratio will be 1:1 in the home and 2:1 in the community. Lucy will support her own independence cleaning and completing daily tasks with her Team members in fun and positive manner and actually enjoys these tasks at times.
Lucy can get frustrated or upset sometimes when anxious, which may result in behaviours that people may find challenging. She will need patient team members that are confident, warm and kind in personality. Lucy will require support with all aspects of personal care, whilst building her independence, and needs team members who are respectful of her dignity.
