Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a
Migrant Support Worker
to provide practical, emotional, and housing-related support to migrant individuals and families facing barriers to settling safely and independently.
The role focuses on tenancy sustainment, reducing temporary accommodation use, and supporting access to the private rented sector, while ensuring culturally competent and trauma-informed practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing person-centred support to migrant families, including those in temporary accommodation
* Explaining tenancy rights and responsibilities clearly and sensitively
* Supporting access to the
Private Rented Sector (PRS)
* Working closely with Housing Officers and multi-agency partners
* Assisting with housing applications, documentation, and move-on planning
* Identifying safeguarding concerns and maintaining accurate case records
* Supporting integration and reducing repeat homelessness
Essential Experience
* Experience working with vulnerable families, migrants, or individuals with complex needs
* Knowledge of housing rights, welfare systems, and tenancy sustainment
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
* Strong communication skills, including working with interpreters
Desirable
* Experience within local authority housing or homelessness services
* Knowledge of immigration-related housing access issues
* Additional language skills (Arabic desirable)
