This is a strong opportunity for an experienced site-based wireperson / EC&I technician to join a well‑established UK engineering business delivering critical energy and substation projects across transmission, distribution, and power generation sites.
The role suits a hands‑on, safety‑focused individual who is comfortable working on National Grid or similarly regulated sites, takes pride in high‑quality workmanship, and is flexible with UK-wide travel and staying away Monday to Friday.
Role
* On‑site wiring of protection and control systems
* Installation, glanding, and termination of multicore and paired cables
* Copper and fibre‑optic communications cabling
* Mechanical assembly of cubicles, frameworks, and cable tray/ladder systems
* Electrical testing prior to commissioning, including LVD checks
* Earth bond, point‑to‑point, insulation resistance, and HV withstand tests
* Power‑up, fusing, and functional equipment checks
* Supporting test rig builds and hardware testing
* Working closely with Site Managers and Engineers to resolve issues
* Completing isolations and working on test rigs when appointed
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 1 year experience as a site-based wireperson
* EC&I installation experience on substation control or protection systems
* Previous work on National Grid or equivalent regulated sites
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring schedules
* Full UK driving licence
* Willingness to stay away Monday–Friday on UK sites

Mechanical assembly experience, Apprenticeship trained, National Grid Person, SSSTS, 18th Edition, ARC Flash, PASMA, LOTO, Impressed Voltages, Asbestos & Confined Space Awareness
