VAT Manager
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Location: Onsite – Droitwich
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Are you an experienced VAT professional with practice-based and advisory experience looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a VAT Manager to join our specialist VAT team on a permanent basis, working onsite from our Droitwich office. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Partners, deliver high-quality VAT advisory services, and further develop your leadership skills within a commercial accountancy practice environment.
The Role: What You’ll Be Doing
As a VAT Manager, you will be a confident and technically strong VAT specialist with proven VAT advisory experience gained within an accountancy or tax practice. You will support clients across a range of industries, manage advisory projects, liaise with HMRC, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the VAT function.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver VAT advisory services to clients across regional, national, and international markets
* Provide technical VAT advice on complex and non-routine matters
* Maintain and update VAT procedures and technical documentation
* Represent clients during HMRC VAT inspections and enquiries
* Conduct VAT health checks and other advisory projects
* Support VAT service marketing and business development activities
* Manage VAT project work, including fee agreements and billing
* Provide VAT guidance to colleagues and keep clients informed of legislative and regulatory changes
* Research and resolve complex VAT technical issues
* Mentor and support junior team members, depending on experience
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven VAT experience gained within an accountancy or tax practice
* Demonstrable VAT advisory experience, including complex technical work
* A motivated professional with a strong desire for career development
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
* Strong IT skills, including experience with accounting and tax software
* Extensive technical VAT knowledge, gained in practice and/or HMRC
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

* A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, and/or CTA
