Responsibilities

Develop and enhance the Drama curriculum across KS3 and GCSE, placing the three central strands of thinking hard, character development and diversity at the heart of the subject. Lead the performing arts team, coordinate the planning and execution of school shows, theatre productions and extracurricular trips, and support teachers in their own rooms equipped with projector, screen and laptop. Contribute to the ongoing investment in the new theatre and the recently completed Music block, and promote the use of the well‑equipped drama studio and dance studio. Provide professional induction and development for staff, support wellbeing initiatives and work collaboratively with the active wellbeing committee.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience in drama teaching and leadership, strong curriculum development skills, a demonstrated ability to manage teaching staff and resources, and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful candidates will undergo Disclosure and Barring Service checks alongside relevant employment checks.

What we offer

Full induction programme, significant opportunities to develop expertise, a supportive team culture, a strong commitment to safeguarding, and investment in your development towards senior leadership. Our facilities include a well‑equipped drama studio, practice rooms, dance studio, and dedicated teaching spaces with projector, screen and laptop for every teacher.

Commitment to Safeguarding

The Cowplain School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers share this commitment and will undergo appropriate recruitment and selection practices, including DBS checks.
