Join to apply for the Health Care Support Worker role at NHS Scotland.
We have an opportunity for several highly motivated Health Care Support Workers to join our team, initially in the Medical Assessment Unit. This is a busy area with a high turnover of patients. You will work with a supportive team and have opportunities to widen your knowledge and develop additional skills through appropriate training.
Location: Melrose, Scotland, United Kingdom (various posts across Borders).
Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Band 5 nurses to deliver direct patient care under supervision.
* Contribute to maintaining patient safety and providing a high standard of nursing care in line with NHS Borders protocols.
* Work in a shift pattern that includes days, nights, and weekends. Shifts are 11.5 hours (0730–2000 and 1930–0800).
* Indicate on your application the number of hours you would like (minimum 23 hours per week).
Qualifications and Requirements
* Flexibility to work various shifts; evidence of relevant healthcare understanding is beneficial.
* For posts requiring UK work eligibility, you must demonstrate the right to work in the United Kingdom and, if applicable, be eligible for sponsorship under UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa criteria. Sponsorship is subject to licenced sponsor status and salary thresholds.
* From 1 April 2025, a different level of criminal records check may be required if the post is assessed as a regulated role. If so, appointment will be subject to PVG scheme membership or other disclosures as directed. Details will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.

* Salary is quoted for full-time hours (37 hours per week); for part-time appointments, salary will be pro-rata.
