About the Role
We are looking for an energetic, self-directed and articulate project management professional to join the Hartree Centre Programme Management Office on a two-year fixed term contract. You will help us identify, scope, manage and deliver projects and programmes that help UK businesses and organisations understand and adopt innovative technologies to generate impact and improved productivity across the UK. You will be accountable for ensuring a range of projects and programmes are scoped, managed delivered successfully across a variety of external stakeholders ranging from public sector organisations, regional SMEs to large multinationals.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Owning the development, management, planning and delivery of key technology programmes from initial scoping through to completion and capture of lessons learnt on behalf of the Centre.
Coordinate project requirements and resources, validate technical requirements, manage risks, update resource allocations and manage budgets against forecasts.
Providing technical expertise, guidance and input to our programmes in areas such as HPC, AI and Quantum, understanding the centre capabilities and dependencies with particular focus on providing knowledge and understanding relating to the delivery of technology projects.
Coordinating and managing a range of specific programme deliverables on behalf of the Hartree Centre, ensuring multiple projects are successfully delivered to multiple customers using the appropriate technical resources and computing capabilities available.
Liaising with collaborators and project partners to understand and agree business and technical project requirements, agree roles and responsibilities and ensure both internal and external stakeholder commitment is gained and maintained throughout the programme.
Working with our partners to ensure all agreed deliverables and outcomes are achieved to time, budget and quality expected by industry partners and collaborators.
Ensuring compliance to relevant wider STFC and UKRI project management processes (for example the Bid Register, Bid Approvals, DPIA and Data Management processes), including the professional preparation of internal and external programme documentation.
Act as the key point of contact and Hartree representative for allocated technical programmes, fostering the relationship with clients and partners to ensure a high-quality professional service is delivered at all times.
Person Specification
APM PMQ project management certification or relevant demonstrable experience in providing professional project management services to a complex organisation preferably in a scientific or technology environment. (S)
Substantial experience of managing successful technical computing projects in an innovation or commercial/industry setting, ensuring repeatable programme delivery to agreed specifications, cost, time and quality standards. (S)
Able to articulate, understand and translate technical conversations relating to HPC/AI, Data and digital technologies to commercial and academic partners working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders. (S&I)
Demonstrates a proactive attitude to problem solving, managing risks and resolving issues that arise, showing high levels of personal drive, determination and resilience. (I)
Demonstrates ability in influencing and motivating colleagues and collaborators from a wide range of backgrounds and fields towards achievement of agreed technical and programme deliverables. (I)
Demonstrates strong team skills, with the ability to build and lead a team with excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record to influence colleagues and collaborators from a wide range of backgrounds and subject areas towards achievement of agreed deliverables. (S&I)
