An exciting vacancy has arisen within the Infection Prevention & Control Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly & supportive team.
The Successful Applicant Will Be Required To
1. Monitor patients within the Trust who have been identified with alert organisms and provide advice to patients, relatives, and staff.
2. Undertake audits e.g., hand decontamination, environmental, etc.
3. Undertake surveillance and interpret data e.g., National surgical site surveillance programmes, adhoc surveillance as required.
4. Provide education and training to all staff groups.
5. Review/write policies and action plans.
6. Undertake Root Cause Analysis for various infections e.g., C diff, MRSA, and during periods of increased incidence and outbreaks.
Good communication and teaching skills are essential, and a working knowledge of current UKHSA guidelines and infection control experience are desirable.
Education and training of trust staff is a major component of infection prevention & control. Therefore, the successful candidate must be confident to deliver training to both small and large groups.
Infection Prevention & Control is a rewarding but challenging role. It is important that the successful applicant can prioritize competing demands and respond to challenges and conflicts in a calm, confident manner.
As the subject of Infection Prevention involves keeping up to date with the latest research and guidance, the successful candidate is encouraged to undertake a recognized Infection Prevention course, attend relevant conferences, and stay updated.
