Purpose of Role
To ensure an effective and efficient operation of cleaning services within the Heriot Watt University Riccarton campus. To participate in the day to day programmes of cleaning work within the allocated cleaning zones of the University to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
To actively contribute to the successful delivery of excellent service to all students, staff and visitors across the university by keeping student accommodation and University offices, meeting rooms and lecture theatres clean and tidy and fit for use.
Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Day to day responsibility for all cleaners, directing, supervising, training and motivating to deliver the cleaning schedule for all the designated areas
2. Planning and implementing daily work schedules and staffing levels in keeping with the demands of the business
3. Ensure all buildings, residences, offices, classrooms etc served by the team deliver a positive impression and are maintained to meet customer expectations and service level agreements
4. Work with the Senior Cleaning Team Leaders and Deputy to forward plan staff and work schedules for all areas to meet the requirements of the business throughout the year
5. Be responsible and accountable for quality control inspections, audits of accommodation and follow up where required. Manage stock levels and be accountable for same
Education, Qualifications & Experience

Essential
6. Educated to HND level or similar or equivalent experience
7. Experience of working within a similar environment as outlined above
8. Experience or relevant qualifications in the hospitality industry
9. Good numeracy and IT skills
10. Competent in the use of relevant IT packages
11. Well-developed interpersonal skills
12. Demonstrable professional and proactive approach
13. Demonstrable ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment
14. Demonstrable provision of excellent customer service
15. Willingness to learn

16. Experience of leading an operations team
17. Experience of supervisory practice and principles
18. BICS Trainer Certificate
19. Previous experience of working within a similar environment as outlined above
20. Experience of operating relevant catering and/or cleaning equipment
