Location: Monks Walk, Chicksands, Shefford, Central Bedfordshire, SG17 5TQ. Hours: 37 per week. Start Date: 19 January 2026. Duration: ongoing. Pay Rates: PAYE £29.28 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £39.00 per hour.

The Role
We are recruiting five experienced Social Workers (Level 2 – Access Hub) to join the Children & Families team. This hybrid role requires office presence three days per week, with full office duty one week in four. You will be part of the Family Help team, working across CBC offices including Priory House (Shefford) and Grove View (Dunstable), with flexibility to work from home when appropriate.
You will manage a varied caseload, supporting children through child in need, child protection, and court work. Your interventions will be imaginative, ambitious, and focused on improving outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage caseloads of children and families, undertaking direct work to understand their views and lived experiences.
* Chair multi-agency meetings and liaise with professionals to safeguard and support vulnerable children.
* Deliver timely interventions to reduce the number of children entering local authority care.
* Prepare and present high-quality assessments and reports.
* Provide court evidence and contribute to proceedings as required.
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum of five years post-qualifying experience in children’s social work.
* Strong knowledge of social work theories and models, with the ability to apply them effectively.
* Proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Court experience is essential.
* Passionate about delivering high-quality services to vulnerable children.
