On behalf of a thriving SME based in Leeds City Centre, Hays Accountancy and Finance are recruiting a Management Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their client during a period of growth. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth flow, control, and storage of documentation related to engineering, procurement, and construction activities, maintaining and managing technical and contractual documentation for multiple projects in compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintaining Financial Records: Accurately record financial transactions, manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, bills, and customer invoicing.
2. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with company records, resolve discrepancies promptly.
3. Financial Reporting: Generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for management and regulatory compliance.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, monitor financial performance, and analyze variances.
5. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, including VAT, payroll taxes, and corporate taxes, collaborating with external advisors.
6. Payroll Administration: Process payroll accurately, ensuring compliance with employment laws.
7. Internal Controls: Implement controls to safeguard assets and ensure record accuracy, conduct periodic audits.
8. Financial Analysis: Conduct analyses to assess performance, identify trends, and support strategic decisions.
9. Continuous Improvement: Seek process improvements, stay updated on standards, regulations, and technology.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or Management Accountant, preferably within engineering, construction, or renewable energy sectors.
* Familiarity with engineering drawings, project management documentation, and contract administration is advantageous.
* Proficiency with document control systems like Egnyte and SharePoint; strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.
* Exceptional organizational skills with accuracy and consistency.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
* Relevant qualifications in accountancy, administration, or project management are beneficial.
