This is a fast paced role giving support to clients during night shifts. This role requires someone who is passionate about supporting people in their hour of need as well as in every day situations.
West Berkshire Homeless Service provides support to adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across two locations, each are tailored to meet the needs of the clients.
Our aim is to provide person-centred support to our clients, empowering them to gain the life skills they require to move on to more independent living.

JOB PURPOSE
To be part of the night team to keep our clients and services, safe.
To provide people with homes and specialist support so they feel more valued and secure, and ready to take the next steps
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To provide informal support to clients and be a listening ear
2. To complete wellbeing checks for all residents at agreed times and to meet their needs
3. To monitor the service and surrounding areas that are covered by CCTV
4. To deal with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary
5. To maintain clean and tidy communal areas, carry out cleaning tasks when required
6. To provide detailed handovers to day staff, regarding client safety and support information
7. To triage out of hours issues which may arise and contact the on-call manager where applicable
8. To support your colleagues managing the night service, where required
9. To support clients in trauma informed and psychologically informed ways
10. To adhere to safeguarding responsibilities, following our safeguarding policy and procedure
11. To help maintain health and safety, ensuring clients, visitors and buildings are safe in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, policy and procedures
12. To provide basic first aid assistance until help arrives (full training is provided)
13. To work confidently and efficiently when lone working
14. To maintain accurate records on our client management system and ensure these are stored in line with GDPR
15. To maintain confidentiality
16. To represent the organisation in a professional manner
17. To carry out any other reasonable duties required in the interest of the organisation
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
18. Experience in similar sectors
19. Experience in customer service roles
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
20. Good communication skills
21. Clear verbal and written English
22. Good keyboard skills for data inputting
23. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
24. Polite and assertive manner
25. Ability to self-motivate as you will work on your own
26. Collaborate well in a team
27. Ability to respond calmly in a crisis
28. Have an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues
