As an Orthopaedic Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) you will be based at UCLH and assist in providing specialist care for patients admitted under the Orthopaedic Trauma team with the aim of ensuring a seamless pathway through the Hospital.
We are looking for an experienced orthopaedic nurse with a commitment to enhanced recovery and excellent surgical care to join the orthopaedic department as a Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Main duties of the job
This role will join the established CNS team and contribute to the comprehensive, world class service we provide to our patients in their peri and postoperative journey.
You will work closely as part of the multidisciplinary team with our consultants, ward nurses and allied health professionals to provide world class care, reduce length of stay, enhance patient experience, and ensure a supportive discharge process.
You will follow a patients journey from beginning to end and support in the pre-operation process. In addition, you will review inpatients and take part in the daily ward rounds. You will also use your clinical skills in assessment to provide excellent post discharge advice as required and escalate concerns appropriately.
You will facilitate the collection of data for the National Hip Fracture Database and interpretate the findings to improve the care of neck of femur (NOF) patients. We are keen to develop staff to enhance their skills and would look to develop you in this role.
You will work closely with our arthroplasty CNS and provide support cover when required.
