Lead DevOps Engineer – Cloud Platform & Site Reliability
Location: Nottingham or London, UK
Team: LSEG Risk Intelligence Engineering
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you’ll be a hands‑on technical leader, guiding the design and implementation of modern DevOps and platform engineering practices:
* Automate full‑stack infrastructure using Terraform and GitLab
* Lead the design of CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI to enable fast, secure, and reliable software delivery
* Deploy and manage Kubernetes workloads using Amazon EKS and Istio Service Mesh for service discovery, traffic management, and observability
* Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with development and business goals
* Mentor and guide DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automation, security and operational excellence
* Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance platform capabilities and developer experience
What You’ll Bring
* Demonstrable AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) expertise
* Hands‑on experience with Terraform, GitLab CI and Bash/Python
* Orchestration and monitoring tools – Istio, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK
* 6+ years in DevOps or Platform Engineering roles in a lead role
* Proven experience building and operating cloud‑native platforms
* Strong communication, problem solving and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
* Development experience in a major language (Java, C++, C# etc.)
* AWS certifications and financial services background
