Qualified Outreach Tutor – Maths & English (SEN Experience)
About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate and experienced Maths and English Tutor to provide 1:1 outreach tuition to pupils across Buckinghamshire who are currently not attending school. This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified educator looking to deliver bespoke learning outside the traditional classroom setting.
You will support young people with varying educational needs – including those with SEN, social, emotional or mental health challenges – helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and make measurable academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver tailored 1:1 sessions in English and Maths (up to GCSE level)
2. Plan engaging lessons that meet individual learning goals
3. Support pupils with SEN and those who may have been out of education for extended periods
4. Track and report on pupil progress in collaboration with Prospero’s education team
5. Provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
Role Details
6. Type: Part-time (10-15 hours per week, flexible)
7. Duration: Ongoing, dependent on individual student needs
8. Session Length: Typically 1-3 hours per session
9. Start Date: ASAP
10. Pay Rate: From £25 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
11. Location: Buckinghamshire
12. Subjects: Maths & English (up to GCSE level)
Requirements
13. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS/PGCE or equivalent)
14. Minimum 6 months UK teaching/tutoring experience
15. Proven experience supporting students with SEN
16. Confident delivering English and Maths up to GCSE level
17. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
18. Two recent, relevant references
19. Right to work in the UK
