Behaviour Mentor 1:1 Behaviour Support (Challenging Behaviour) Location: Birmingham Start Date: Immediate Contract: Full-Time (term-time) Pay: £90 – £120 per day (dependent on experience) Smile Education is working closely with a school setting in Birmingham to recruit an experienced Behaviour Mentor to provide 1:1 support for a pupil displaying challenging behaviour. This role is ideal for someone confident, resilient and consistent, with a strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation. You will play a key role in supporting the pupil’s engagement, wellbeing and access to learning throughout the school day. The Role As a Behaviour Mentor, you will: Provide 1:1 behavioural and emotional support to a pupil Support the pupil in lessons and during unstructured times Implement behaviour support plans and agreed strategies Promote positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation Act as a consistent, trusted adult for the pupil De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour approaches Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams Support routines, transitions and social development Record and report on progress and incidents as required Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all timesAbout the Setting School-based role with strong pastoral and SEN support Clear behaviour policies and leadership support Structured environment with consistent routines Supportive and experienced staff team Challnging an complex behaviour learnersRequirements (Essential) Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour Experience working 1:1 with children or young people Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Calm, patient and resilient approach Ability to build positive relationships with pupils Experience in education or related settings (SEMH, PRU, youth work, care) Ability to commit to full-time work Two references covering the past two years (one relating to working with children) Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to applyThis is a rewarding opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor looking to make a meaningful difference.
