Overview
Maintenance Engineer to join our Heat Networks team on a temporary to perm basis. This is a home-based role with regular travel to energy centres and customer sites across Newcastle and infrequent travel to other UK locations (Sheffield, Manchester, Leamington Spa).
You’ll be responsible for both routine and emergency maintenance of equipment within our energy centres, including CHP engines, boilers, pump systems, and electrical/control systems. You’ll also attend customer properties to service, repair, or replace Heat Interface Units (HIUs).
Responsibilities
* Respond to reports of faults or breakdowns
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
* Liaise with customers, operations teams, contractors, and specialists
* Plan and execute maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and control systems
* Participate in the on-call standby rota
* Support efforts to reduce unplanned downtime and improve asset performance
* Use maintenance management systems to track and manage tasks
What We’re Looking For
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
* Commercial Gas certification with valid ACS qualifications
* IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
* Strong understanding of safety practices, hazard identification, and risk management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to diagnose issues, evaluate data, and make informed decisions
* Strong planning and organisational skills
* Willingness to travel and work flexibly as required
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
