The position offers the opportunity to work in specialist clinics—Nail surgery, Musculoskeletal and Wound care—while delivering care to high and medium risk patients and assessing new patients. A domiciliary caseload is also part of the service provision.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a more specialist role or for new graduates to progress from Band 5 to Band 6 over 12 months, conditional on successful completion of the developmental programme.
Located in NW Surrey, this role offers great transport links into London and wonderful outdoor spaces. NB: If you are newly qualified you will start at Band 5 on the Band 5 pay scale.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a highly effective, comprehensive foot health and protection service for the population of CSH Surrey at a variety of clinical sites, including home visits.
* Assess, diagnose, develop treatment plans and provide evidence‑based podiatric treatments; promote patient empowerment and independence.
* Work autonomously within professional, departmental and CSH guidelines, as part of a multidisciplinary team when required, and provide advice to patients, carers, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
* Maintain clear, comprehensive and accurate clinical records.
* Participate in specialist clinical rotations and clinical supervision, utilizing reflective practice.
* Maintain CPD and mandatory training; engage in professional development reviews.
* Communicate effectively with all patients, carers, relatives, GPs, other health professionals and administrative staff.
* Teach and assess students, newly qualified podiatrists and podiatry assistants.
Professional Duties
* Perform comprehensive neurological and vascular assessments, wound debridement, advanced pathology and wound management, and basic biomechanical assessments to prescribe orthotics or insoles.
* Carry out diagnostic procedures with appropriate equipment (wound swabs, Doppler ultrasound) and interpret results.
* Perform local anaesthesia and minor surgery where clinically appropriate.
* Manage clinical risk within own caseload and seek guidance as necessary.
* Ensure informed consent prior to treatment and appropriate referral to assistant grade.
* Maintain a domiciliary caseload, booking appointments and using clinical time efficiently.
* Use IT systems appropriately and report all clinical and non‑clinical incidents promptly.
Organisational Responsibilities
* Operationally manage an assigned clinical base, including pharmacy supplies, stock ordering and health‑and‑safety compliance.
* Record clinical activities, outcomes and refer patients using the electronic patient system (currently RiO, soon EDIS).
* Safeguard clinic rooms, equipment and supplies, especially controlled items.
* Report accidents or near misses promptly and cooperate with investigations.
Communication & Working Relationships
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and other healthcare professionals, providing education and promoting foot health.
* Coordinate with GPs, Allied Health Professionals, Tissue Viability Nurses, District Nurses, Practice Nurses, MDS, Health Visitors, Carers, Social Services and peers.
* Provide health promotional activities and education sessions.
Person Specification – Essential
* HCPC Registered Podiatrist (BSc/MSc (pre‑reg) or equivalent)
* Local Anaesthetic Certificate
* Full UK driving licence (car)
* Post‑graduate education/CPD and professional portfolio.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Additional experience in podiatric surgeries, wheelchair facilities, or similar.

* UK Registration: Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
