Senior Education Welfare Officer - The Role:
As a Senior Education Welfare Officer at Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust, you will take a leading role in shaping attendance and welfare practices across Hub 2 and supporting the wider Trust. You will provide strategic oversight, line-manage Education Welfare Officers, and work closely with school staff, families, and external agencies to ensure every child has the support they need to thrive.
Your expertise will directly influence attendance strategies, interventions, and safeguarding practices, while your leadership will help create a consistent, high-quality approach across our schools. Senior Education Welfare Officer – Key Responsibilities:
- Line-manage and support EWOs, ensuring consistent, high-quality attendance and welfare practices across the Trust’s school hubs
- Monitor, investigate, and address student attendance issues, using data to inform strategies and interventions
- Work with families, school staff, and external agencies to improve attendance and provide alternative educational support
- Prepare reports, briefings, and legal recommendations for senior leaders and courts, maintaining detailed case records
Senior Education Welfare Officer - You:
- Minimum of 5 O Levels/GCSEs (To include English and Mathematics at Grade C or 4 or above) Have Education Welfare Officer status or similar experience across multiple sites
- Demonstrate high levels of discretion
- Excellent knowledge of attendance legislation and strategic implementation
- Be a skilled negotiator, willing and able to develop relationships with professionals and families and present potentially sensitive information in a tactful manner
- The ability to manage a caseload and to prioritise work demands
- The ability to engage with disaffected young people/families to strive for a successful outcome
