SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Burnley Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Roles available: Ad hoc and full-time We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support students in a Secondary Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Burnley. About the School & SEN Provision: This school provides specialist support for students aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). The staff work closely with students to help them develop both academically and socially, within a nurturing and structured environment. Responsibilities: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your role may include: Providing one-to-one or small group support in and out of the classroom Assisting students with their learning, communication, and personal development Supporting students with personal care, if required Managing behaviour positively and promoting engagement Working closely with teachers and other professionals to adapt learning materials Creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment Ideal Candidates Will Have: Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential) A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach The ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs Whether you’re experienced in SEN settings or looking to build your skills in this rewarding field, we’d love to hear from you.
