Shape Our Future: Regional Public Relations Officer & Clerk to Governors – Essex Region

Based at Hylands School, Chelmsford, Essex. The role is based in the region’s primary schools and offers hybrid working options.

Travel to primary schools as required, with travel costs reimbursed in line with the Trust’s travel policy.

Locations Served:

* Heybridge Primary School, CM9 4TU
* Maldon Primary School, CM9 5DQ
* Stapleford Abbotts Primary Academy, RM4 1EJ
* Willow Brook Primary School and Nursery, CO4 0DT

Role Details: Part‑time, 32.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8:30 am–3:30 pm with flexibility for late‑afternoon meetings.

Key Responsibilities – Public Relations, Marketing & Communications:

* Brand Gatekeeper: Ensure all public‑facing documents adhere to academies’ brand standards.
* Strategy & Delivery: Map out and deliver marketing strategy across the academic year, including events, admissions and open days.
* Digital Leadership: Manage social media platforms, promote news and events while safeguarding and ensuring statutory compliance.
* Community Cohesion: Work collaboratively to increase cohesion with local communities.
* Fundraising: Identify funding sources and prepare timely bids in partnership with the Director of Opportunity and SLT.
* Lettings Management: Oversee lettings at each academy as day‑to‑day point of contact.

Key Responsibilities – Governance and Clerking:

* Advisory Guidance: Advise the Local Governing Body on core functions, regulatory framework and procedural matters.
* Meeting Administration: Prepare focused agendas, liaise for papers, ensure meetings are quorate and draft/circulate accurate minutes.
* Compliance: Keep statutory policies up to date, update GIAS websites and maintain records of governors.
* Membership Management: Advise on governors’ term expiry, maintain up‑to‑date records of governors’ interests and training.

Essential Experience & Skills:

* Strong experience in communications, copy‑writing or public relations.
* Experience in carrying out complex administrative tasks.
* Working knowledge of marketing procedures and practices.
* Excellent verbal and written communication with strong listening skills.
* High level of ICT experience, including design packages, Google Suite, MS Office and website updates.
* Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail in line with brand standards.
* English and Maths to GCSE/Standard Grade or equivalent (at least Grade 4/C).
