About The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students during short term teacher absences. This can be in lessons of any subject, using the cover work set by their teacher. You DO NOT need to be a qualified teacher, although a number of people who have previously undertaken this role have successfully used it as a stepping stone into teacher training and gone on to become teachers. You DO need to be able to positively interact with young people, and have the ability to motivate and challenge students in order to maintain a positive learning environment.
The successful candidate will be involved with organising the daily cover rota, and liaising with our approved partners to arrange external supply staff when required. While teacher absences are often planned (due to meetings, training, school trips, etc.), there are unplanned absences that arise (illness, family emergencies, etc.), so the ability to plan effectively and think on your feet is a key requirement for success in this role.
