Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you will work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we are effectively addressing security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will serve as a role model for security, promoting good behaviors and a strong security mindset. Your efforts will contribute to safeguarding the organisation from threats to our people, data, information, and physical assets.
In this role, you will:
* Assist the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks
* Provide leadership on assessing and managing security risks, including our security responsibilities
* Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to understand, assess, and mitigate risks
* Ensure assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors
* Partner with Defra group Security to develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures
* Lead initiatives to improve security culture through training, communication, and engagement
* Conduct governance meetings to oversee security decisions
* Maintain networks with security professionals to stay informed about the latest security developments

The team
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security division, focused on protecting and empowering the organisation. You will have access to expert advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts at the Environment Agency.
Experience/Skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential:
* An understanding of external influences on organisational security to facilitate continuous improvement
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and inspire others
* Ability to build effective partnerships within Defra and the Environment Agency to jointly manage risks
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and demands
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, communications, engagement, and implementing business change is beneficial

This is a hybrid role, with office-based work at your nearest location in England combined with remote work. Some national travel may be required.
