Role Purpose:
* Play a key role in the site integrated H&S team.
* Champion the HPC Way including its pillars.
Accountabilities:
* Ensure the health and standards of the HPC project are consistently met.
* Provide competent advice across a multi-functional/disciplined project.
* Carry out all duties with full regard to MEH policies and procedures.
* Build relationships with other Tier 1’s and the Principal Contractor.
* Monitor the working practices of MEH employees and contractors regarding health, safety, environment, and welfare.
* Carry out HSE inspections across the site, including at height and in confined spaces. Report trends to the relevant discipline manager.
* Undertake additional tasks as reasonably expected for the post.
* Provide specialist advice on topics such as COSHH.
* Ensure MEH duty of care responsibilities are implemented following incidents.
* Work approximately 90% on-site and 10% in the office.
Key Deliverables:
* Conduct inspections and observations of MEH site activities and subcontractor operations per shift; record findings within Insight.
* Intervene when unsafe practices are observed and offer solutions.
* Participate in training to become H&S subject matter experts.
* Support accident and incident management and investigations.
* Monitor compliance with MEH site procedures.
* Support all MEH site HSE functions as required.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
* NEBOSH general or construction certificate or equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction.
Additional Qualifications/Experience:
* Background in COSHH, DSEAR preferred.
* IOSH membership or similar.
* Site experience in a similar role, ideally in the nuclear industry.
* Willingness to undertake Level 3 Award in Education and Training/PTLLS if required.
* Basic understanding of Nuclear site Licence Conditions.
* Investigative mindset with attention to detail.
* Trade-specific training to support safe delivery on MEH works.
* Auditing qualification or experience.
* Knowledge of SG4.15, TG20.13, work at height regulations, and standards like ICATS, LOLER.
* Electrical background or experience working with electrical teams.
* Knowledge of lifting and rigging standards.
* Excellent communication skills to explain HSE procedures.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office.
