Overview

At Smith+Nephew, we design and manufacture innovative healthcare technology that enhances lives. We are seeking a dynamic Global Category Leader for our Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance (GCL CAPEX) Category. This hybrid role can be based at our Hull or Watford site with occasional travel between locations.


Key Responsibilities

* Develop and own category strategies aligned with business objectives, ensuring stakeholder approval and clear communication.
* Achieve cost efficiencies by meeting CAPEX savings targets and analyzing supplier, market, and internal data.
* Identify and mitigate risks, address supplier performance issues, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
* Lead projects based on the CAPEX strategy, contributing to the Annual Procurement Category Plan.
* Manage supplier relationships through segmentation, metrics, contract negotiations, and governance activities, including executive reviews.
* Drive innovation by collaborating with strategic suppliers to support Smith+Nephew’s innovation goals.
* Supervise a small team, ensuring alignment with the overall category strategy and maintaining stakeholder communication.


Candidate Profile

To succeed, you should have extensive procurement experience, especially in managing Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance categories on a global scale. Knowledge of MRO, Facilities, and Real Estate categories is a plus. A professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent is highly preferred. Your ability to develop strategic supplier relationships, drive cost efficiencies, and lead procurement initiatives is essential.
