Job Overview

This post is a fixed term training contract of 24 months. The training provides the opportunity to gain the experience and qualifications needed to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Salary
Initially Annex 21 Band 4 - 70%, progressing to 75% after 12 months.
Role Description
Pharmacy technicians develop expertise in medicines and health, working as part of healthcare teams in hospitals, manufacturing units, community pharmacies, and GP practices. They focus on management and use of medicines to ensure optimal outcomes and lead teams delivering medicines services.
During the two-year training, you will gain experience reflecting the evolving roles of pharmacy technicians, including dispensing for in-patients and out-patients, purchasing, distribution, ward-based work, and supporting medicines management and optimisation in GP settings.
Location
The post will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital Pharmacy.

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 4 GCSEs A*- C (or equivalent), including English, Maths, and Science. Experience in hospital or community pharmacy is desirable but not essential. Candidates must be willing to undertake a two-year modern apprenticeship training program, including online learning, work-based assessments, and study days.
Person Specification
Essential: 4 GCSEs including Maths, English, Science; ability to work in a team; good IT skills; awareness of health and safety; willing to work bilingually.
Desirable: Evidence of ongoing professional development, NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services, Welsh language skills, and experience in NHS settings.
