As our Technical Services Manager for the Mod Hire Division, you will lead and inspire a dedicated team of technicians, driving the successful delivery of high-quality technical designs for adaptation and construction. You will coordinate all technical design activities, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards. This pivotal role involves providing essential technical support to various departments and establishing robust technical standards that underpin our commitment to excellence and innovation in modular building.

About The Role

As Technical Services Manager, you will be at the forefront of our Mod Hire Division, driving technical excellence and innovation. This dynamic role involves leading a skilled team, ensuring the seamless delivery of design solutions, and upholding the highest standards of compliance and quality across all projects. You will foster cross-functional collaboration and act as a key technical authority, directly impacting our project success and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically support material scheduling and procurement, collaborating to optimise supplier orders and project timelines.
  • Act as the critical link between technical design and production, providing detailed information and project clarifications to maximise manufacturing output.
  • Offer expert technical guidance to the Design and Estimating teams, contributing to accurate and competitive project proposals.
  • Lead and efficiently manage the Technical Team's workload, allocating projects, and implementing robust tracking systems for progress, drawing approvals, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and oversee the entire technical design process, ensuring all deliverables meet agreed timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Approve technical drawings, guaranteeing full compliance with building regulations, industry standards, and internal design specifications.
  • Collaborate with Planning Consultants to strategically plan, manage, and monitor the submission and progress of planning applications.
  • Liaise proactively with Approved Building Control bodies, providing necessary clarifications for seamless project progression.
  • Produce comprehensive weekly reports for production and construction teams, detailing progress, identifying challenges, and proposing actionable recommendations.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance the Standard Details Library, serving as a critical resource for design consistency and efficiency.
  • Foster collaboration with the Design Team to drive continuous improvement, creating and updating Revit families, and championing Revit best practices through training and support.
  • Provide exceptional guidance, mentorship, and supervision to the design and technical team, cultivating a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing work environment.
  • Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, ensuring effective communication, resolving technical issues, and providing expert guidance throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
  • Represent the technical team in internal and external meetings, ensuring project delivery aligns with budget and programme requirements.
  • Serve as a primary technical advisor to other departments, particularly the commercial team, developing innovative technical solutions for diverse projects.
  • Design and lead internal training and development programmes, enhancing team knowledge of regulations and industry best practices.

Essential Requirements:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a Construction-related discipline.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in managing design teams and successfully delivering complex construction projects.
  • Robust knowledge of technical design principles, RIBA Plan of Work, building regulations, and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in a construction-related discipline.
  • Proficiency in using Revit.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with BIM software, processes, and related technologies.
  • A meticulous approach with a keen eye for detail, focusing on quality and accuracy.
  • Commercial awareness and a solid understanding of project budgets and financial implications.

Required Criteria
