Lead DevEx Engineer (AI-First Engineering) - Fully Remote - (£90k-100k)
We’re partnering with an innovative technology business undergoing a major AI-first engineering transformation and are looking for an experienced Lead DevEx Engineer to help shape the future of software delivery and engineering productivity.
This is a high-impact leadership role focused on improving the internal developer journey through modern tooling, automation, platform engineering, and the integration of agentic AI across the software development lifecycle.
You’ll take ownership of developer tooling architecture, engineering standards, onboarding experience, and productivity optimisation while acting as a technical leader and mentor across the engineering organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Drive the adoption and integration of AI-powered engineering tools and agentic workflows
• Define and evolve AI-first SDLC standards across engineering teams
• Improve developer productivity, deployment workflows, and engineering efficiency metrics
• Lead automation initiatives across onboarding, tooling, and development environments
• Own technical standards, documentation, and production readiness practices
• Mentor engineers and support technical decision-making across teams
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Platform teams to shape developer experience strategy
What We’re Looking For:
• Strong background in Developer Experience, Developer Productivity, Platform Engineering, or Internal Tooling
• Proven experience leveraging AI / Generative AI tooling to improve engineering workflows
• Deep expertise across AWS, distributed systems, Terraform, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability platforms
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Go or similar)
• Experience working within large-scale object-oriented codebases
• Passion for developer enablement, engineering excellence, and modern software delivery practices
