Job Description
The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15-month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving as well as gaining their Category C1 (7.5t) licence, with a view to moving to a full-time 7.5t Driver position within DX upon completion of the apprenticeship. Responsibilities include non-driving duties relevant to the job role, including office work, drivers’ mate and warehousing during training. Apprentices will undertake a range of training alongside their daily role to provide knowledge about the job and develop skills and behaviours. Apprentices will obtain CPC licences as part of the Urban Driver Apprentice programme, which is a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.
Key Tasks / Areas of Responsibility
* Represent DX in a professional manner at all times
* Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training
* Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements at all times
* Undertake daily vehicle checks, promptly reporting defects and completing correct paperwork
* Ensure all products are scanned using DX scanning equipment
* Load deliveries safely prior to leaving the depot
* Observe DX procedures and policies at all times
* Manage routing to achieve premium and timed deliveries
* Ensure the correct equipment and PPE are in good order and used at all times
* Report all delivery and on-road issues to the traffic office immediately
* Ensure the customer receives deliveries in excellent condition every time
* Deal with customer issues politely and effectively
* Make deliveries and collections in line with given instructions and times
Qualifications / Entry Requirements
Apprentices must be 18 or over and have a minimum of 12 months UK driving experience. As a minimum, candidates should have:

There are steps to be accepted as an apprentice. If your application is considered, you will liaise with our training partner, GTG, who will conduct checks, request information and administer an English and Numeracy assessment.
