MSAT Primary Packaging Lead
This is a site-based role in Worthing, UK.
At our GSC Worthing site, we have a proud heritage in global manufacture of oral antibiotics (solid dose and dry powder suspension), The site also manufactures bulk export material for use at other manufacturing sites in our network.
This role is to oversee and lead the MSAT (Manufacturing Science and Technology) packaging team in providing technical support on materials, components and packaging processes within the Tablet Packaging area.
Enhance site capability by fostering cross-functional collaboration, coaching, and training, while actively managing knowledge of packaging materials, technologies, and processes to optimize product protection, sustainability, line efficiency, and Cost of Waste (CoW) targets.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives and drive strategic projects that support the site's ability to achieve its business strategy goals, ensuring proactive identification and implementation of innovative solutions to meet evolving operational and market demands.
In this role you will
1. Build and maintain relationships with wider GSK teams (Artwork Packaging Services (APS) and MSAT Packaging Operations Teams) through participation in relevant community of practices and regular interactions.
2. Manage relevant component specifications and drawings within the compliance systems ensuring they meet the needs of the intended markets incorporating relevant regulatory and quality requirements whilst ensuring they prevent defect and waste generation at the site impacting line efficiencies.
3. Facilitate the team to build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers to help increase process knowledge to be used in the support of the supplier complaint process through the provision of technical assessments on component related complaints from the packaging areas.
4. Support team in investigating relevant customer complaints through a robust root cause analysis and generation of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to prevent re-occurrence. Work with the complaint process owners to identify top 3 complaint categories and develop improvement plans.
5. Lead and provide efficient, effective, and compliant technical support to the Product Stream packaging processes, ensuring day-to-day operational issues within the Tablet Packaging areas are thoroughly investigated to root cause and resolved urgently through CAPA to prevent reoccurrence, minimize reject/waste levels, and maintain control of local KPIs. Plan, resource, and complete process support activities on time, proactively addressing risks and roadblocks.
6. Enhance site capability through cross-functional coaching, training, and personal engagement, while developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of packaging materials and technologies to ensure product protection, sustainability, and Cost of Waste (CoW) targets, and managing team talent and development to support business needs.

Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
7. Degree level qualification (or strong equivalent experience) in an appropriate scientific, technical or packaging discipline.
8. Thorough knowledge of GMP and Regulatory requirements in a pharmaceutical environment.
9. Ability to use and interpret data to drive decision making at tactical level
10. Thorough operational knowledge of Packaging unit operations, materials and components for Oral Solid Dose
11. Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organisation.
12. Proven capabilities in enabling and driving change, delivering solutions, developing people, and building relationships across multiple interfaces and in a matrix environment.
