SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: Kettering, NN15

Salary: £89.38–£100 per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time, long-term position with potential to become permanent

Role Overview The role involves supporting pupils within a specialist or mainstream primary school environment who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). You would work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils either one-to-one or in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN (e.g., autism, MLD, PMLD)

* Assist the class teacher in delivering structured learning activities

* Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

* Help pupils develop independence and confidence within the classroom

* Contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment

Typical Requirements

* GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent

* Previous experience working with children or young people (school, care, youth work, or support roles)

* Understanding of SEN or willingness to undertake training

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
