A truly fantastic primary school in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced and inspiring Interim Headteacher to lead the school from April through to at least July, with strong potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.

About the Role
An Interim Headteacher plays a vital role in ensuring stability, direction and continuity during a period of leadership transition. You will lead the school with confidence, working closely with staff, governors and the wider community to maintain momentum and support ongoing improvement.
This position would suit a recently retired Headteacher, an experienced Head of School, or a senior leader ready to step into headship who can hit the ground running and lead with clarity, warmth and purpose.

Provide strategic leadership and clear direction for the school
Ensure high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour
Support staff wellbeing, development and performance
Maintain strong relationships with parents, governors and the community
Oversee safeguarding, compliance and Ofsted readiness
Continue driving the school's improvement journey and long-term success
Schools appoint Interim Heads to provide stability and continuity when leadership changes occur. This may be due to retirement, promotion, restructuring or the search for a permanent Headteacher. Your role will be to ensure the school continues to thrive and move forward with confidence.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Proven senior leadership or Headship experience
Strong understanding of Ofsted expectations and school improvement
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to lead with confidence, empathy and professionalism
