Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses who have the skills required for the dual role of Clinical Educator and junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our directorate of Respiratory Medicine within the care group of Medicine and Pharmacy Services (MAPS).
The role is focussed around the provision and monitoring of the clinical skills and training for the staff working within inpatient Respiratory. These wards include Huntsman 7, Brearley 3, Robert Hadfield 1, Robert Hadfield 2 and Robert Hadfield 5.
The role will primarily be based on RH5 to support the requirements of the Respiratory Support Unit (RSU). In addition to the recognition and provision of staff training needs you will work with the Senior Sister to provide strong clinical leadership to the ward in the delivery of high quality, patient centred care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the continuous review and development of the Respiratory workforce, including Trainee Nursing Associates and Integrated Therapists. They will utilise their clinical experience and access appropriate resources to support the training and development of the staff.
The post holder will also be expected to support the complex Respiratory needs of the patients within the speciality and complete ward-based training and education. They must be committed to evidenced based care and remain up to date with national recommendations whilst adhering to clinical governance. They will also be expected to partake in local and national audits.
The Sister/Charge Nurse role includes the provision of nursing care and clinical skills to a diverse range of patients whilst supporting colleagues and carers on the ward.

Person specification
Qualifications
 * Registered Nurse
 * To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
 * Possess or working towards a degree
 * BLS trainer
 * Moving and Handler Key Trainer
Experience
 * Relevant experience at AFC band 5 (or equivalent)
 * Relevant experience of caring for patients with Respiratory conditions
Further training
 * IV drug administration competency.
 * Evidence of recent professional development.
 * Competency in Care of Tracheostomy/Laryngectomy patients
 * Non-Invasive Ventilation sign off
 * Advanced Respiratory Skills
