About the Job
The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing their skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Additionally, they direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality and safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
A Registered Nurse III (RN III) is responsible for the care of their assigned population. An RN III must complete yearly mandatory competencies, unit-specific competencies as identified by the Director/Designee, and fulfill Professional Practice Ladder requirements such as assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in PI activities, and contributing to department initiatives. They communicate and share information with the Director/Designee and co-workers through unit or hospital committees. They must also participate in education, seminars, conferences, workshops, or review nursing articles, with their portfolio submitted annually by March 1st. They are expected to be on a committee and provide validation of participation. Routine activities include soliciting and validating patient/family satisfaction, participating in peer reviews, and developing educational materials for staff and patients.
