As a valued member of the team, you will provide expert advice to an array of departments within the council, ranging from Assets and Regeneration, Housing and Education, to Planning and Highways. You’ll join a supportive and friendly team with a wealth of experience, who will make the transition into joining the council as smooth as possible. The team support ongoing asset related projects, such as the Council’s asset disposal programme (which works to deliver affordable, suitable, and decent housing), with past Team attainments including advising on the set-up Care Dorset and Dorset Centre of Excellence. Areas of Legal Property are varied and includes Commercial, Development, Agricultural, Residential as well as General Property law advice (subject to experience and training). Ideally we are looking in particular for some Commercial Property Law experience for this particular role but we will consider all applications. Examples of transactional work includes sales, purchases, leases, licences, easements, an ongoing programme of academy conversions, community asset transfers, and all sorts of other varied property law advice. Support and training will be provided as required. This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them. It will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. See our policy on the employment of ex-offenders. The key skills recruitment and retention scheme applied to these positions, subject to eligibility. The amount payable will be £2000 (pro-rata for part time positions) after 24 months of employment. A generous relocation package is payable, of which up to £8,000 (of HMRC eligible elements) are free of tax. We can offer you help to move whether you are looking to buy or rent, depending on your circumstances.
