Creating Enterprise, a subsidiary of Cartrefi Conwy Housing Association, provides a range of property mainte-nance services to private sector organisations, local authorities and social landlords throughout North Wales. Approximate turnover per annum is £9m. The dimension of the role includes (but is not limited to): • Working as part of a small in house Environmental Maintenance Team within Creating Enterprise, de-livering services under an SLA to Cartrefi Conwy. • Reporting directly to the Environmental and Landscape Manager, with day-to-day task direction from the Environmental Maintenance Operative. • Primarily outdoor, physical work across multiple sites in varying weather conditions. • The role uses hand tools and basic grounds maintenance equipment under supervision (e.g., mow-ers, strimmers, hedge cutters, loppers, secateurs). The successful candidate is expected to interact with tenants, colleagues, and members of the public in a polite and helpful manner. Work Context: Work is physical, requiring regular lifting and carrying. Work also requires the operation of hand, power tools. Required to regularly work outdoors in all weather conditions and occasionally handling hazardous materials, i.e. sharps (where Health & Safety permits). The role is site based and there is a daily requirement to travel locally. Autonomy and Decision-Making: The post holder has the flexibility to decide what order tasks are done, however, all tasks will be expected to be completed to deadline or by priority set. All decisions are made within very clear guidance of the line manager. Approval required form line manager to deviate from instructions. Areas of complexity: Prioritising a busy workload with, at times, conflicting priorities. Meeting the needs of a growing and changing service by demonstrating flexibility and openness to adapt. Time restrictions to carry out daily list of activities. Occasional requirement to assist with community projects (i.e. tree planting). The following tasks are typically expected within this role. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar nature and level may be required from time to time. Maintenance operations will include (but not limited to) general horticultural tasks such as: • Carry out routine grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, prun-ing, weeding, litter picking, and general site tidying. • Assist with seasonal horticultural tasks including planting, mulching, watering, and basic soft landscap-ing. • Follow instructions from the Environmental Maintenance Operative and work collaboratively to com-plete daily work schedules. • Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly, reporting defects or concerns promptly. • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all sites. Additional tasks (on a responsive and/or ‘ad hoc’ basis) such as: • Assisting with basic hard landscaping (laying new paths, steps, fencing and raised timber beds) • Sowing seeds, bulb planting and replanting failed stock • New planting schemes (obtaining and planting shrubs and small trees) • Turfing and ground preparation (soil cultivation in readiness for planting) • Pressure washing hardstanding areas (moss and algae removal) • Support the team in identifying environmental issues (e.g., fly tipping, vandalism, hazards) and report-ing them appropriately. • Assist the Clearance Team (to remove fly-tipping) As a customer facing service, we will also require staff to be polite and courteous at all times, and carry out their duties in line with existing Client practice i.e. reporting and safeguarding for vulnerable tenants, notifying the Client of fire risks and/or fly tipping issues etc. To actively support the overall delivery of Creating Enterprise’s objectives to provide an excellent, innovative and truly customer focused service.
