Band 6 Senior IT Officer required for a large public sector organisation based through the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service Location: Lisburn Road Pay Per Hour: £19.10 Hours: 37.5 hrs per week JOB SUMMARY/MAIN PURPOSE: The post-holder will be responsible for the technical management of the Agency's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure with particular concentration on system's administration, information management, data communications, PC networks and ICT security. They will also manage the Information Technology (IT) support staff and IT Helpdesk service. In addition, the post-holder will assist the IM&T Manager with the development of technical strategies to support the Agency's ICT strategy. MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Management of the Agency's physical and virtual computer environments, including business continuity, availability, and capacity planning. Administration of the Agency's network infrastructure (LAN and WAN) Administration of the Agency's Active Directory infrastructure Management of end-user administration, file server administration, database administration, and information security in line with agreed policies. Co-ordinate the IT Helpdesk service including prioritization of service desk incidents to ensure delivery of agreed service levels are maintained. Assist the IM&T Manager with the development and implementation of ICT strategies, guidelines, and procedures. Assist the IT Security Manager with the development and implementation of ICT security policies, including security-related remedial activities as may be required. Liaising with the BSO ITS and third-party support organisations on issues relating to data communications strategy, network administration and support. Assist in the identification, investigation, and development of new and emerging technologies which may benefit the Agency. Represent the IM&T Department's interests in internal working groups as agreed with IM&T Manager. Participate in external (i.e. HSC) working groups as required in order to represent the Agency's interests Participate in working project groups within the Agency as required ESSENTIAL CRITERIA 1a. Possess a recognised professional IT qualification or an HNC/HND or equivalent/higher qualification in an IT related discipline and have three years' experience working in a comparable IT technical environment. OR 1b. Have five years' experience working in a comparable IT technical environment. Knowledge of best practice for the delivery of IT services e.g. ITIL, ISO27001, ISO2000, etc Practical experience of more than one year in the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server environments including Microsoft Active Directory Microsoft Exchange Server VMWare vSphere / ESXi Managing a local area network Relational database management systems Information Extraction and Reporting End-user support and troubleshooting Ability to understand complex and technical subject matters Effective planning and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise own workload Effective communication and interpersonal skills to meet the needs of the post in full Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. DESIRABLE CRITERIA Experience in PRINCE2 project methodology. Experience in Open VMS.
