1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant – Maternity Cover
Morpeth | Monday–Friday | 9:00am–3:00pm
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Morpeth for a committed and resilient 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a maternity cover basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with learning and school life.
The Role:
1. Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
2. Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
3. Encouraging engagement with learning and social development
4. Building a consistent and trusting relationship with the pupil
5. Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to meet individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
6. Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs
7. A calm, patient and resilient approach
8. Strong communication and relationship-building skills
9. A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
10. Relevant childcare, support work or education experience (desirable but not essential)
