About the Role
1. High autonomy – You’ll drive both strategy and execution with minimal oversight.
2. Collaborative leadership across disciplines – You’ll work with teams across design, engineering and content – not just to coordinate, but to co-develop product direction and ensure every detail reflects a unified vision.
3. Strategic clarity – You'll be responsible for articulating the product strategy for Backdrops and explaining how it fits into Roku's broader vision
What You’ll Be Doing
4. Lead Product Strategy: Own the roadmap for Backdrops, balancing near-term scale and engagement initiatives with longer-term opportunities like creator monetization and generative content.
5. Stay Connected to Users: Ground product decisions in a clear understanding of what users value – drawing from usage data, user research, market signals, and competitive insight.
6. Build the Platform: Define and deliver the Gallery Management & Curation Tool used by internal and external curators to manage content across galleries and markets.
7. Drive Feature Development: Lead the end-to-end development of new user features – from ideation and user validation through design and delivery – ensuring each addition meaningfully enhances the Backdrops user experience.
8. Prepare for Monetization: Lay the groundwork for gallery subscriptions and creator monetization, including payment integration and gallery discovery features.
9. Measure & Optimize: Take ownership of an existing product metrics framework – refining, expanding, or redefining it as needed to guide decisions and demonstrate impact.
10. Partner on International Rollout: Lead product expansion into international markets – working with legal and local market teams to ensure compliance and user delight.
11. Champion Beauty and Delight: Ensure every aspect of the product reflects our design principle: “Backdrops should be beautiful.”

The Roku Culture
Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.
We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
