Teaching Assistant & Front of House Administrator
Nexus School is a specialist provision dedicated to supporting children and young people with additional needs to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. We are seeking a warm, organised and adaptable individual to join our Wouldham satellite provision as a Teaching Assistant & Front of House Administrator.
This unique dual-role combines classroom support with front-of-house administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with children while also being the welcoming face of the school.
About the Role
The successful candidate will spend part of the day working as a flexible Teaching Assistant, supporting learning across different classes and year groups, and part of the day undertaking reception and administrative duties.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
1. Support pupils' learning, wellbeing and engagement in the classroom.
2. Work flexibly across classes, providing additional support where required.
3. Assist teachers with learning activities and classroom organisation.
4. Support individual pupils and small groups to achieve learning objectives.
5. Promote positive behaviour and inclusive learning environments.
6. Assist with educational visits, break-time supervision and school activities.
7. Support pupils with additional needs in line with school policies and individual plans.
Front of House Administrator Responsibilities
8. Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, carers and professionals.
9. Manage reception duties and visitor safeguarding procedures.
10. Answer telephone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently.
11. Support attendance processes and pupil records.
12. Assist with school communications, newsletters and correspondence.
13. Maintain administrative systems and databases.
14. Support the organisation of meetings, events and general school administration.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
15. Has GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
16. Has experience working with children in an educational setting.
17. Has administrative or customer service experience.
18. Is organised, professional and able to manage competing priorities.
19. Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
20. Is confident using Microsoft Office and administrative systems.
21. Understands the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality.
22. Is flexible, reliable, approachable and committed to supporting young people.
Desirable
23. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
24. Experience working on a school reception desk.
25. Knowledge of SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
26. First Aid qualification.
