Position: IT Communications & Network Manager
Location: Nottinghamshire / Merseyside (Hybrid)
ABOUT
Our client is a dynamic powerhouse delivering grid-scale energy storage and power infrastructure across the UK. Backed by major infrastructure investors and scaling rapidly, our Client is recruiting for a Network Manager to join them on a permanent staff basis.
THE ROLE
The IT Communications and Network Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of network and communications hardware across the organisation. This role involves oversight of site network connectivity, internal/external stakeholder management, compliance, risk and cyber-security assurance and project strategic support. Reporting to the Head of Digital Systems and Compliance, this is a key role for this rapidly growing business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage day-to-day operation and performance of network and communications hardware org-wide
* Oversee maintenance, changes and outages with minimal disruption
* Maintain accurate hardware/network asset records and documentation
* Manage connectivity across multi-site operations, including WAN, internet, failover and resilience
* Coordinate provisioning/decommissioning of site links with connectivity providers
* Liaise with Operations on OT/network interfaces (OT remains Operations-owned)
* Act as principal IT contact for connectivity providers, contractors and service providers
* Manage third-party contracts and ensure delivery against agreed standards
* Ensure compliance with data protection laws, IT policies and risk procedures
* Identify IT/security risks, lead incident investigations, support audits
* Oversee access controls, vulnerability assessments, patch management and security audits
* Support cyber incident response and business continuity planning
* Manage cyber security requirements in procurement of new systems
* Contribute to network/infrastructure projects, business cases and budgets
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
* Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and routing protocols
* Experience with firewalls, VPNs and network security technologies
* Knowledge of cloud networking platforms (Azure, AWS)
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Person Specification:
* Substantial experience in network and communications management within infrastructure, utilities, energy or similar multi-site environments
* Strong technical knowledge of network infrastructure, connectivity and IT security principles
* Ability to analyse information and translate findings into practical solutions
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, working across operational, engineering and corporate teams
* Proven track record managing competing priorities, delivering projects and driving continuous improvement
* Experience managing third-party suppliers and service providers
* Strong commitment to security, regulatory compliance, data quality and service delivery
* Ability to support organisational growth and site network expansion
