We are currently looking for a Family Safeguarding Senior Recovery Coordinator to join our dedicated Reading service, emphasising on Family Safeguarding. You will ensure a high quality and consistent service to families with complex needs of either drug and/or alcohol related issues engaged with Childrens' Services as part of the Family Safeguarding Service.
The role is co-located between Children's Services in Reading Borough Council and within family hubs which provide accessible, non-stigmatising settings for families

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week
Full time Salary: £32, £34,214.21 per annum, paid pro rata
Contract type: Fixed Term until 30th of September 2026
Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
Responsibilities
About the role:
* Engage and support families with members who have substance misuse issues and complex physical and/or mental health needs.
* Deliver recovery-focused clinical and psychosocial interventions to support health and recovery.
* Complete comprehensive assessments and develop clear recovery plans that support progress and community reintegration.
* Strengthen links with local recovery and mutual aid groups.
* Support families to build recovery resources and access peer and mutual support networks.
* Provide health education, including harm reduction, blood-borne viruses, and overdose prevention.
* Carry out relevant screening processes (e.g. DBST, urine and saliva testing) following appropriate training or experience.
* Deliver harm reduction activities, including needle exchange services and Naloxone distribution, following appropriate training or experience.
* Support the Team Leader with case file audits and promote learning to improve service user outcomes.
* To adhere to CGL policies and processes in delivery of services – particularly lone working and health and safety related to working with complex service users.
* To undertake focused work with families of interest.
* To provide rapid and flexible interventions where required to meet the needs of the service users.
About you:
* Experience of working with families with complex physical and / or mental health needs including co-morbidity.
* A commitment to multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions to achieve good outcomes for the service user group, e.g. mental health services, criminal justice agencies, community groups, etc.
* Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
* Experience of safeguarding and working in the substance misuse field.
* Knowledge of the issue facing families where substance misuse is present.
* Good knowledge of local community based support practices.
* Experience of managing complex and high risk child and adult safeguarding cases
